Launch of the Nile Basin Academic Exchange Program (NAEP) for Master's students and researchers

NBCBN-Africa and the Dutch IHE-Delft Institute, with funding from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Cairo, have announced the opening of applications for the NAEP (Nile Basin Academic Exchange Program), which aims to promote scientific collaboration and the sustainable management of transboundary water resources in the Nile Basin countries
The program is aimed at:

Master's students in the fields of water, environment, and sustainable development (priority).

Early-career researchers.

It also encourages networking among researchers at different academic levels, including mid-level researchers and senior scientists.

- Application Requirements

Applicants must be enrolled at a university in one of the Nile Basin countries.

Applicants must have an interest in research areas related to water, the environment, and climate change.

Applicants must be able to participate in collaborative research projects and work within multinational teams.

Suggested Research Areas
Ecosystem services such as wetlands and mangroves

Climate change and socio-economic development.

Natural solutions for climate change adaptation.

The role of gender in disaster risk management.

Surface water quality and the impact of climate change.

The interaction between groundwater and surface water.

Governance analysis in irrigation projects.

Participating universities:
The program includes universities from the following countries: Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
