The Department of Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Science, Alexandria University, organized a workshop titled "Interdisciplinary Research, Digital Learning, and Smart Climate Innovation for Sustainable Societies and Green Industry" on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Faculty building in Muharram Bey. The workshop was attended by professors, researchers, and industry representatives.

Professor Marwa Wassim Abdel Wahab, from the Department of Environmental Sciences, opened the workshop, emphasizing the university's role in supporting the green and digital transformation and equipping students to use artificial intelligence in scientific research. The workshop included three sessions on research intelligence and
 artificial intelligence, sustainability reporting, and carbon footprint estimation

Professor Bushra Salem, a full-time professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences, provided training on the use of the Scopus database and explained the difference between it and SciVal, clarifying the role of each in documenting and analyzing research performance based on artificial intelligence. She also discussed methods for verifying the reliability of information and evaluating the quality of research

In the second session, Professor Samaa El-Daq, Dean of the Institute of Advanced Studies at Beni Suef University, presented the fundamentals of preparing sustainability reports according to ESG standards. In the third session, Professor Dalia El-Maghraby, from the Department of Botany and Microbiology, presented methodologies for estimating carbon footprints and their importance in developing strategies to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The workshop is part of the HINTS project, funded by the European Union to support green and digital transformation. Participants praised the initiative's importance in enhancing environmental awareness and research capabilities within the university and the wider community
